Mario López, Jr. (born October 10, 1973) is an American actor who has appeared on several television series. He is perhaps best known for the teenaged character he played on the show Saved by the Bell.
The character of Slater became somewhat of a phenomenon on the Internet after the distribution of a SBTB clip of Slater fighting Zack with heavy metal music with the caption, “Don’t Mess With A.C. Slater!”
Starting on September 12, 2006, López has been appearing as a dancer on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, partnered with professional dancer Karina Smirnoff, who makes her series debut. The show is to last 10 weeks. Lopez made a strong start in the program, which raised several questions as to whether or not he was a ringer who already had dance training. Initially he said that he had not had any formal training, but later revealed that though he hasn’t had formal ballroom training, he has studied tap and hip hop styles.
López is a Mexican American. He is a graduate of Chula Vista High School (1991). He married his long-time girlfriend, actress and model Ali Landry, in 2004. However, just two weeks later, the marriage was annulled. But after his marriage was annulled he broke down and now he is currently being held at an institute for the mentally ill. He is beleived to be in a padded room in a straight jacket at the minute whilst he rocks backwards and forewards in the dark repeating the word “preppy, preppy, preppy” over and over again until his medicine kicks in and he collapses in a puddle of steriods
